The AARP My Savings Jar project was an animated video introducing AARP's new web platform. The goal of the video was to help educate older adults about the benefits of using My Savings Jar, a program designed to assist with financial planning and management. This program was designed to help people take small steps to set aside cash to deal with life’s financial challenges – like car repairs, high utility bills or emergency medical treatment. The free program offers social support, resources and expert coaching to help people save and achieve more control over their expenses.
As the Creative Director, I was responsible for leading the concept and art direction for the project. I worked closely with the AARP team to understand the key information that needed to be communicated in the video. We took inspiration from 1950s animation to create a fun and engaging visual style that would appeal to the target audience. We created moodboards and storyboards to present our ideas to the client and received positive feedback that helped us to develop the final concept.
The animation helped introduce the My Savings Jar platform in a way that was easy to understand and engaging. The video was successful in helping to promote the platform, and even during the beta stage, My Savings Jar reached over 5,000 users. This success was a great testament to the impact of the video, and it was a great opportunity for me to use my animation and design skills to bring an important message to life and help educate older adults about the benefits of financial planning and management.
Throughout the production process, I collaborated closely with the AARP team, ensuring that the final product met their expectations and effectively communicated the key information about the My Savings Jar platform in an engaging and informative way. The project was a great opportunity for me to showcase my creative direction, art direction, and animation skills and make a positive impact on the older adult community.
